The Rules of American Roulette

The Roulette wheel has numbered pockets ranging from 00 to 36. Before play, you can select the amount you want to wager by clicking on the coin that's says "increase or decrease" your bet. Then you can place your bets on the virtual table. There are also sorts of different types of bets you can place, as we will explain soon. Once the bets are played, you click play and the ball starts rolling. As the ball stops in one of the numbered pockets of the Roulette wheel, you find out whether you have won and how much.

How To Win At American Roulette

The amount you win depends on how much you bet and what you place your bets on. There are two types of bets: Inside bets and outside bets.

Inside bets are bets that are placed on the interior of the table. The simplest is the straight up bet. Pick a number, 1 to 36. place your bet on that number. If the ball lands there, you win. Simple as that. How much do you win? In a straight up bet, you win $36 for every dollar bet.

Next up, the split bet. Place your bet on the line between two numbers. You have twice as much chance of winning since you win if either of the two numbers adjacent to your bet comes up. What do you win? You win $16 for every one bet.

A Street bet is when you bet on a "street' of three numbers. You win $10 for every $1 bet. This is a popular bet since you have three times as many chances to win as in a straight up bet yet you still have a great payout if you win.

Like it sounds, a square bet is when you bet in the middle of a square of four numbers. You win $8 for every $1 bet.

In a five number line bet, you are betting on the only row with 5 numbers. That is the row that includes the numbers 00, 0, 1, 2 and 3. The odds are 6:1. The rest of the rows have six numbers and a Six-Number Line bet pays 5:1.

Outside Bets are traditionally placed on the outside of a roulette table.

A column contains one third the numbers on the board and a Column bet pays 2:1. Bet $10 get $20 when you win. The chip is placed at the bottom of the column in a column bet. Same odds for a Dozen bet. Bet either High, Middle or Low. The chip is placed on one of the following areas: First 12, Second 12 or Third 12.

Finally we have the easy Even-Money bet. In this bet, you bet on half the numbers of the table. (Eighteen total). The chip is placed on one of the following squares, Even, Odd, Red, Black, 1-18 or 19-36.

When you are placing bets, you can place as many different bet types as you want. Once the ball is rolling, there is no more betting allowed that round.
