What’s In A Name?
Pontoon, Twenty-one, Blackjack …. Whatever name you want to call it, this card game is the most widely played card game, globally. You’ll be knocked out by the whole unique experience. You are right there, at the casino, ready to outsmart the banker. He (or she) deals you two cards.
You can beat the bank in one of three ways:
- Turn up 21 points on your first two cards (“Blackjack!”) – unless the dealer’s pair also reveals Blackjack;
- Turn up more cards to reach a higher score than the dealer, without exceeding 21;
- Let the dealer draw additional cards until his/her hand exceeds 21.
The basic strategy is really quite simple.
Of course, experienced players will know, and expect, that there are several variations on the basic formula. You will find them all on European Blackjack, playing to European rules.
Note that there are two main versions of Blackjack: the European and American models. The two variants are played by the same basic rules, but with a few subtle differences. Make sure you are aware of these! The main differences are that European is played with two decks of cards – American with 6 to 8. In European Blackjack there is no ‘hole’ card – the dealer is only dealt a second card after players’ hands are completed. In the European version doubling is only possible with 9, 10 or 11 points (in American all totals are possible) and splitting is possible only once (in American up to three times, thus four hands). And there is no ‘surrender’ option in the European version.
This new ‘outing’ of European Blackjack by Switch Studios offers some brilliant animations, and includes many advanced variants such as Split Hands, Double Hands, and the Insurance Option. At the same time, this casino classic is a completely immersive on-line gaming experience and incorporates a realistic audio background. Turbo Mode and Left-Hand Mode are also included to appeal to players of all types so that they can customize their game preferences.
Note also that the European Blackjack game-engine is completely new and sets new standards for versatility and power. The whole casino experience has been designed with an exciting range of animations, and an authentic soundscape to encourage fluid gameplay and a real sense of being in the moment.
Setting up. A Theme With Many Variations

Playing on the version for mobile devices enables you to choose between portrait or landscape. This version is totally adaptive, accommodating all your individual preferences. The controls operate smoothly and simply, and this exhilarating new version of Blackjack will appeal to all serious players, young and old.
This roll-out of European Blackjack is the first in a series designed by Switch Studios to bring new, exciting and mobile-friendly card games to the worldwide casino games market. This is the first in a suite of Blackjack games that will set new standards in this corner of the market.
